From my first Yoga class to HeartSpace
Over 25 years ago, I found myself in a new life on the other side of the world...

I had moved to Australia to escape the London grind and explore something different. Far from home, family and friends, I was searching for connection.
At the end of my street in suburban Melbourne, stood a small church hall offering community activities. One Sunday afternoon, curious and a little uncertain, I walked into my first ever yoga class. The teacher and his wife, a kind Indian couple new to Australia themselves, welcomed me in.
What I didn’t realise at the time was that this was a Sivananda-style class, and one of the very first poses in the sequence is a headstand. I remember thinking it was outrageous to expect beginners to do this! But with gentle encouragement, clear guidance and support, I found myself attempting a wobbly headstand within just a few weeks.
Those classes combined strong asana, breathwork and a dreamy, nourishing savasana. More than learning to do a headstand, what stayed with me was the feeling after class. Each Sunday evening, as I walked home, I felt lighter, clearer, restored... as if I’d shaken off the week behind me and opened space for the one ahead.
That feeling became a thread through my life. It’s what eventually brought me to train as a yoga teacher and ultimately inspired me to create Sunday Reset at HeartSpace.
For me, yoga has always been more than postures.
It’s about finding grounding when life feels uncertain, release when the week has been heavy and restoration for body, mind and spirit.
My hope is that when you step out of Sunday Reset, you’ll carry that same feeling I did all those years ago - a sense of renewal...ready to meet the week ahead with clarity and calm and who knows...maybe begin a story of your own.
Sunday Reset is a 90 minute practice in two halves:
- Part 1 focuses on release, through somatic movement, breathwork and a dynamic Yoga flow.
- Part 2 brings restoration through deep stretches, restorative poses, yoga nidra, meditation and a long, lush savasana.
